“A hard day. Four weeks of snowfall, nearly a metre of fresh snow, avalanche risk 4 out of 5. Near the Col de Creblet in Verbier, we watched an avalanche hit two snowboarders.
We were first on the scene, started the transceiver search and got both of them out. Even then, riders kept dropping in above us, and a second slide took another person.
Verbier is the mecca of freeride. Ride it with the right equipment, check the conditions, and train for the mountain.”
